Rosum Corporation Selected as Finalist for Red Herring 100 List of Top Innovative Technology Companies

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Rosum Corporation announced today that it has been selected as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Private Companies of North America, a list of the technology industry's top 100 private innovative companies chosen by the editors of Red Herring magazine. The Red Herring list is well known as the industry's definitive list of private technology companies impacting the market place. Rosum was selected from close to 1,000 candidates.

"There were many strong candidates for the Red Herring 100 list this year, so making it onto the list is quite an achievement," said Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-chief of Red Herring. "In the post-bubble era, North American technology companies have focused on making sure management is strong and that the business model makes sense."

"Our advanced positioning technology solves a major shortcoming of GPS positioning devices -- locating high value assets indoors and in urban canyons," said Skip Speaks, CEO of Rosum. "Our customers will use our technology to serve the needs of government agencies and commercial enterprises that have a need to track and locate people and assets inside buildings and other locations where the performance of the GPS system is compromised."

Rosum is the first and only company to use unmodified commercial broadcast TV signals for position location of assets. Terrestrial TV signals are high power, low and diverse in frequency, and wide in bandwidth, making them ideal for use in position location of people and high-value assets in metropolitan areas, where most assets of value are found. Rosum co-founder Dr. Jim Spilker and advisor Dr. Brad Parkinson were two of the original architects of the GPS constellation.

About Rosum:

Rosum is the first and only company to use unmodified TV signals for position location of mobile assets. The Rosum solution is uniquely suited to tracking of mobile devices in urban areas and indoors, where GPS and assisted GPS solutions often fail. In exclusively indoor and urban-area testing, the Rosum solution meets the FCC's Wireless E911 accuracy requirements for handset-based positioning systems. Rosum's leadership is composed of industry leaders from the GPS, cellular and television worlds, and the company is venture-backed by leading investors including Charles River Ventures, Allegis Capital, Motorola Inc., KTB Ventures, and Steamboat Ventures. Partners include Trimble Navigation, the leading GPS company, and In-Q-Tel, the CIA's venture investment arm. More information is available at http://www.rosum.com/.
